Delta State All-American Dillard To Assist Rascals in 2010

Delta State All-American Andy Dillard will join the Tallahatchie Rascals as an assistant coach in 2010, the BNA Bank Cotton States North Division announced today.  The Saltillo native, who coached in the inaugural Mississippi Select High School Fall League in 2009, is a former independent league third baseman who won NCAA Division II All-American honors in 2002 for Coach Mike Kinnison's Delta State Statesmen. Dillard prepped at Saltillo High School and continued his baseball career at Itawamba Community College before joining the Statesmen.  Dillard played for the independent league Nashua Pride in 2006 and 2007.  With the Pride in 2006, he hit .283/.375/.398 in 78 games.  Andy is the brother of major leaguer Milwaukee Brewer Tim Dillard (currently with the AAA Nashville Sounds) and former independent leaguer Jeff Dillard.  Andy's father, Steve Dillard, was an 8-year major-leaguer himself with the Tigers, Cubs and White Sox.
