Only (4) games were on tap last week in the BNA Bank Cotton States Baseball League. Still, there were many noteworthy performances, including those of Davis Horton and Cody Kelley.

 

The McAlister’s Deli Player of the Week for Week 3 is Davis Horton of the North Delta Dealers. Horton, a 1^st baseman/DH from Northwest Community College, hit .571 in two games going 4 for 7 with a double, 4 runs scored, and 4 RBI in helping the Dealers to a 2-game sweep of the Tupelo Thunder last Tuesday night. Horton got the nod over Tallahatchie Rascal M.J. McWhorter and the Thunder’s Jake Sloan who both also contended for the honor with excellent performances for the week just ending.

 

The McAlister’s Deli Pitcher of the Week is Cody Kelley, also with the Dealers. Kelley picked up one of the Dealers’ wins last Tuesday, tossing 3 2/3 innings while allowing only 1 hit and 1 run scored. Kelley, from Delta State University, struck out five in his outing and leads the league in ERA with an .071 mark.
